About Subtotal

In 1999 Daryl Fraser was facing a problem most franchisees have experienced. He was dealing with a Point of Sale system that was not working. The system was not designed for his Quick Serve Restaurant and replacement parts were expensive.

He began looking for a solution. A terminal built for his restaurant that was durable, easy to use, made of high quality components that could be replaced at a low cost and sourced locally. He talked with his good friend Mark Connors, who had a strong technical background to see if they could put together a system. Mark and Daryl built the first Subtotal system and put it into use at Daryl’s restaurant.

When other franchisees saw the system they wanted it for their restaurants. Daryl and Mark found themselves building terminals and Subtotal POS Systems was born. Today Subtotal has sold over 3000 systems in 19 different countries.

“Our goal is to simplify the life of a franchisee, not complicate it”, says Daryl. “We give franchisees a system that works and fits their individual needs. We can do this because our research was done in a restaurant not in a computer lab. This has allowed us to deliver the products and services franchisees want.”
